Clinicals and Chemistry

Well, this week has been a little more intense then last week... and we are only two days in. I have my first exam in Chemistry next Tuesday and my first validation tomorrow. I love Chemistry and my clinical, but I always do terrible on any kind of test. So I am not too excited about it. I don't think this block system is a very good thing. I think it makes students not learn the subject as well because they are just constantly cramming. Well, at least for the nursing students. I guess for those who just have one class (or maybe two but they are pretty light subjects) twice a week, its not that bad. But when you have two classes that equal basically four separate classes and are almost every day a week... yeah you get the picture. Homework due every single day. High school so does not prepare you for this... neither does Bible college. After having clinical and Chemistry today I came home and just let myself veg for a little bit (not too long as I have too much homework to do and children to care for). Luckily the girls were still down for a nap so I had about an hour of quiet. My brain was so fried I had a major migraine. I have also discovered that I am going to have to start wearing my glasses again... but I have no idea where they are... haven't seen them in a year or two (haven't had a need for them). I don't even remember my prescription so that I can just go and get a pair of those cheap glasses at the drug store. Anywho, here is my schedule for anyone who is curious : P

Monday -- 8am - 11am Nursing Fundamentals
11am - 12:45pm Lunch/Chart Smart (homework that has to be done on school computers)
                  1pm - 3:20pm Chemistry
Tuesday -- 7am - 11am Clinical
                 11am - 12:45pm Chart Smart/Lunch
                 1pm - 3:20pm Chemistry
Wednesday -- 7am - 11am Clinical
                      11am - 1:45pm Lunch/Chart Smart
2pm - 4pm Validation (basically clinical, but it's when we get tested on what we learned in                           clinical)
Thursday -- 1pm - 3:20pm Chemistry
Friday -- 1pm - 3:20pm Chemistry

This will last for 8 weeks and then the next 8 weeks of this semester, Chemistry will be replaced with A&P. Seem like a little much to you? Yeah, it will only get worse next semester. Next semester though I will be having my clinical at the hospital (surgical BOOYAH!) instead of the nursing home like this semester. Super excited about that for sure.
