Recently my husband and I went on a double date. The couple we went with aren't Christians and are going through some difficulties in their marriage. Needless to say I ended up getting upset about some things that were being said between the husband and wife. I didn't know how to react or if I should say something. I had never seen a husband treat his wife so horribly!
When we got home I told Stephen that I never wanted to go out with them again. He told me that he understood how I felt... that he didn't like it either... but he feels that WE need to set a good example for them. I almost laughed! I am torn. I know that it is my responsibility as a Christian to lead those who are lost down the right path but... I know that I am not living my life right now as I should. I am having my own struggles and difficulties. Am I really the right person? Are Stephen and I really the right people to be trying to help this couple? I mean it wasn't that long ago that we were on the verge of divorce ourselves! We have grown a lot in just a few months, but we still have a long way to go. Stephen says that he has already helped that guy and that things are better between them then they were a month ago. But I don't know. Should I really be giving someone marriage advice? I feel like its not my place. I don't know... maybe I'm wrong.
