I am half way through my second 8 weeks of school and I am ready for it to be over. I am enjoying my clinical, which surprises me because it is geri, but I have found a deep compassion for our elderly. It pains me to see the way some of them have to live out their final days. It was never meant to be this way. Alone and suffering silently. I have decided that I will never put my parents into a Nursing home. I will care for them until their last day, or hire in a nurse if I need to. Which sounds silly since I will be a nurse. Anyway, you get the idea. Besides clinical and nursing fundamentals, I am also taking A&P I. This is the most difficult class I have ever taken! I whish I would have taken it in high school. Maybe then I would have been slightly prepared for this one. There is just so much information! We have an exam every week over about 4 chapters. I feel like I haven't even gotten down the first four chapters and we are already testing over the next four. *sigh* I just hope that I am able to keep up my grade so that I can stay in the nursing program. :P Next semester I have to take five classes instead of just four since my advisor messed up my schedule. I then I have to try to take three classes over the summer so that my senior year is not too insane. My first 8 weeks of next semester I will be on my psych rotation for clinical and then I will be doing med-surg rotation for clinical over the second 8 weeks. I am really nervous about the psych rotation, but my instructor says it is a pretty light load. I know med-surg will be a lot more difficult, but I am really excited about that. Well, I have to get to A&P homework. I have a ton of it. Plus have an exam to study for... in A&P... go figure.
PS ~~ For anyone who is interested or wants to come. I have a dedication ceremony on January 14, 2012 at 2:00pm at Bethel College in Mishawaka. It is just a simple ceremony to welcome us freshman into the field of nursing.
