I went to a play tonight with my mom and sister-in-law (don't know what else to call her). It brought back such good memories! I LOVED being in all of my school and church productions (yes my church put on productions... better then my high school... they were A-mazing). It was a mixture of happiness and nostalgia. I often regret not getting to persue my acting more, but the Lord seemed to draw me a different direction. It makes me happy to think that I may now be able to be a part of the drama scene again, once I start school. I even have the chance to be part of a traveling drama group at the school (don't worry practice is once a week after my girls would be in bed... and they only perform on Sundays and their "travel" is always in the area... and it's a paid position).
Well, we went to see Grace College and Seminary put on the Broadway Musical, "Curtains". It was great! I would suggest very strongly that, if you are in the area, you go to see it this weekend. Though it may not have been up to Broadway's "standards", I thought that Grace's cleaned-up version was very well done for a college production. I have seen several college production... one even put on by one of Indiana's top drama schools (as far as Christian schools go) and I thought Grace's was far better then that one. I have also seen several Broadway shows... actual Broadway shows on Broadway in New York, New York... and I must say... I would almost take a small Christian College's version over Broadway's version any day. Yes, call me crazy but... I would rather be able to enjoy a play in its entirety, even with less "quality acting and production", then have to cringe my way through a "well acted and produced" play. Yes, the latter may have a bit more umph, but... like I said... I would rather not have to wash out my ears and mind just to see "higher quality".

So glad you're getting involved in drama again!!! You always did such an amazing job.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is not related but I wanted to share this verse with you: James 5:10-11. Our pastor read it on Sunday and I immediately thought - I have to send that to Megan. It reminded me of your blogs about Job and perseverance awhile ago. You should look it up. :)
